Australia // Study Abroad
I studied abroad my junior year of college at Bond University on the Gold Coast of Australia. What a spectacular experience. I met so many amazing friends there and had so many amazing experiences. I highly suggest that if you are on the fence about taking a semester abroad to do it. It will change your perspective on so many things and will get you out of your bubble and comfort zone.
I went four wheel driving on Fraser Island, road tripped the Great Ocean Road, surfed some of the world’s most famous breaks, pub crawled in Surfer Paradise, scuba dived at the Great Barrier Reef, sailed around the Whitsunday Islands, rented a convertible and went on weekend trips to Byron Bay and Brisbane, sky dived, karoak'ed, sunbathed, played black jack with Kelly Slater, spent time in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth - and that’s just the big things. There were so many other experiences associated with study abroad like the classes I took, the pool time I had in-between classes, the projects, the bar on campus, the campus events, discovering sweet thai chili sauce and putting it on french fries, going grocery shopping, buying a bike, surfboard and bike rack for my surfboard, biking to the beach, taking the bus, renting a car, driving.
I immersed myself in this completely different country and culture with new people other than my friends from Michigan, and I had to figure out how to live. It was truly exhilarating and I highly recommend living in another country for an extended period of time.
