Are You Good People?

I moved to San Francisco almost 2 years ago, and it’s been a wild ride. Prior, I was living in Vail, CO enjoying my day to day activities of snowboarding in the winter, and biking, hiking, and playing golf in the summer, not really spending that much time at my computer. At that time, Twitter wasn’t what it is today. I first created an account in 2007, just to see what all the hoopla was about, and I think I tweeted once or twice something along the lines of “I’m going snowboarding”. But now Twitter is a way of life for me. It’s how I keep up on breaking and not so breaking news, new trends, technology, and everything action sports.

Before I moved to Vail, I was an aspiring Public Relations Professional (whatever that means), but in the words of John Muir “the mountains [were] calling and I must go”. So I left NYC and spent the next 6 years playing in nature. And now, what I’ve come to recognize in this new world, is that Social Media is the new Public Relations. You can get your buzz out much quicker, and the responses are fired right back at ya. I love the idea that the conversation is real time and that you are building relationships instantaneously.

For the past year and a half I’ve been working on a project. I’ve been gaining knowledge and honing my skills in the Social Media World as the Social Media and Community Manager with GoodPeople.

We all know good people, but to really know GoodPeople you have to look inside yourself and find that inner youth that will stop at nothing to get as gnarly as he or she possibly can. GoodPeople is a global actions sports community of people who love action sports and the lifestyle we all enjoy. We want to connect people with the simple message of having fun, pushing your limits, and giving back. The action sport outdoor lifestyle revolution is here and we are about to shake up the industry.

This is not just any job, it’s a lifestyle. Whenever I am outside be it hiking, biking, snowboarding, or surfing I am creating content. I truly enjoy sharing our adventures and our friends adventures on our platform and with all our social media channels, and engaging with the GoodPeople community,  This job is something I will always hold sacred for the rest of my life, because I’ve been able to fulfill some lifelong dreams, one of them being that I would one day be a sports photographer.  I’ve always been an avid photographer with sports being my main interests, and with GoodPeople I’ve been lucky to be on the receiving end of a couple of press passes at the X Games where I’ve been able to shoot from the top of the half pipe in Aspen to up close and personal on the Street League course in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.

I’m learning more and more everyday about social media, and there’s a lot more exciting stuff in the works for GoodPeople, so I’m stoked that I’m along for the ride spreading the good word of living the good life.
